The allround - happy - program for the last evening!
Party time -birthday and casino evening, here we go!
Birthday celebration, spending coins in the casino and canoeing sound like a good plan.
We started the day with a really nice looking and good tasting cake from the bakery Mertz from Glückstadt! As a partner of the youth hostel Glückstadt, they brought a big cake in form of the Union Jack, the flag of England, for breakfast. This very nice match was an eyecatcher for everybody, even for Jörg and Christiane, the hostel wardens, who organised the cake for us.The consignee of this surprise party was one of the participants who turned 15 today.
After many discussions and changing weather predictions, we decided to take on the canoe tour, even though there were still quite some strong winds announced. Luckily, it stopped raining, so if we would get wet, then it would be our own fault. With the wind pushing us form the back, we occasionally used our paddles as sails to advance effortless. The way back to the youth hostel, against the wind, was a bit more difficult, as we had to paddle synchronised to be as efficient as possible. But this was an easy job for the group, they fast got into a common rhythm. The strokes were optimised by counting all together “one, two, one, two, …” and made for an enjoyable trip back home. Ingo, our cheerful guide, was really astonished by the performance of the group and complemented them and offered a free soft drink.
According to the rules, the points gained from the daily camp Olympics activities were exchanged into coins for the last evening activity, the casino night.It was a close battle between the two groups, 24 and 26 points were reached. Upon understanding the best practices, the kids had a lot of fun and were captured by Texas Hold’em Poker and Roulette, we played for three straight hours!
