What`s up in Mölln – daily news!
Today we got some impressions of the first part oft the week in Mölln!
Sunday – The first day
The one-week English camp at the Youth Hostel in Mölln started today. Befor the children drew between 2 and 6 o´clock the teamer prepared the youth hostel for their arrival. After the Kids excitedly moved into their rooms, everyone met in the English room. There was an introduction for the 23 children and the camp rules were introduced by the team members.
As most of the children did not know each other, after the formalities, there were various games. Afterwards there was the first dinner together which was quickly plastered by all. Before we had a good night´s sleep, we played some games and made „Vocab of the Day“ with all the rooms. Here, the Teamers sit a few minutes in the children´s room and talk about the day. Here the children can say what they found good and what they liked so much. Each child write a note, his „Vocab of the Day“, which may be a learned vocabulary or a feeling or activity that the children particularly enjoyed. All vocabulary is attached to the inside of the door so that the kids can look back on the different days based on their vocabulary.
Monday – Mölln Scavenger Hunt
The second day started for the Kids with morning sport. At 7 o´clock it was time to get up and down to the sports field, where the children could let off steam in the fresh morning air. After breakfast teams were formed for the camp olympics, which consists of daily challenges. To master these skills and, above all, team spirit is required. Afterwards, the first English Hour took place, where the kid should speak English in a playful way. After lunch we will go to the Mölln Scavenger Hunt. Here, the childen should explore Mölln in small groups. At the various stations they should solve exciting tasks to find the next station. All groups have successfully and tiredly reached the last station and everyone has been starving on the way to dinner. After Dinner, the kids got half an hour of phone time and then gathered for the Movie Night in the English room. The team members had made them comfortable with mattresses and provided snacks. „Grown Ups 2“ was watched in English with German subtitles and the kids laughed heartily. When the movie was over, everyone quickly rushed to bed and „Vocab of the Day“ was postponed to the next day.
Tuesday – Game Day
After the breakfast, everyone met at the sports field for the Camp Olympics. In the game „the floor is lava“ all groups showed more or less patience and reached the finish line. This was followed by the English Hour, in which again two English-language games were played. After lunch, there was a game afternoon with exciting games, such as a ping pong game, some slackline exercises and an XXL Twister, just to name a few. After the Dinner and the half hour mobile phone time, it started the exciting Night Walk. Here, everyone could once leave there comfort zone and manage a route all by himself or in pairs. Back at the youth hostel, there was a short final round and at the vocab of the day the kids could review their day.
